In the midst of packing up my life for this move, I'm coming across a lot of great memories, one including my DJ days, finding my first set list from 2007. I started DJing in 2007 at Seven Nightclub in Melbourne, I had a Saturday night residency there for 3 years as well playing at various spots around Melbourne. As the crossover to Serato was coming into check along with life circumstances, I made the decision to stop playing. Do I regret it? Kinda, but I've always kept music and hip hop close to my heart. Here is a copy of my first set list, and damn, yes I have good taste in music, haha. toot toot!

Friends in the Press

My B-Girls Stash, Melo & Lize from Melbourne have been published in the latest 'Girls Got Kicks' Book. FRESH!

My buddy Marvin Priest (yes he's Maxi's son, pic taken with Rohan Marley) was also in town on the weekend performing at the opening of a new complex. Shoutouts to Elyssium Lounge for providing us with killer tunes to rock to Friday night.

Hot Stepper

Has randomly been on repeat in my head all day. This goes out to Kayta.

RIP Heavy D

I was at my desk at work when I heard Heavy D had passed away. I shed a few tears. Not only for the loss of his life at 44 but I think also at the realisation that a whole era of hip hop is dying before us.

Musiq/Heavy D - Buddy remix is putting me to sleep tonight.

Hip Hop, I love you!
DEAR FUTURE BOO,

Bed-Stuyvesant, the livest one...

What's an Aussie girl got to do with Bed-Stuy? I called this borough home for 2 and a half months a couple years ago, Jefferson & Throop was my block. I fell in love with the streets, the people, the history, never felt more at home, my time in Brooklyn was life altering. I will be reunited again on the 19th December this year where I will call it home for a month before I move to Toronto. The below video absolutely captures the feeling and scenery of the place I fell in love with. See you soon!

Think about it

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.”— Leo F. Buscaglia

Tre's Pretty Wings is better than yours

I know you've probably heard a million covers of Maxwell's 'Pretty Wings', but this one is definitely worth a listen, slight chill factor. A friend of a friend's son in Melbourne blew me away with this rehearsal footage of him singing 'Pretty Wings', Tre is only about 15 years old too. Mikey Chan on guitar and the lovely Candice Monique has been coaching him.

8 Hours in Brooklyn

“The idea behind this video was to document whatever sort of culture we could find within an 8 hour span with literally no pre-production. I have honestly seen too many slow-motion explosions, face slaps, and popping water baloons, that I thought capturing real culture, and real emotion would be a cool change of pace. My goal was to successfully pull of a few of these shots with a small crew in order to be able to pitch the Phantom Flex for a lot of the documentary work we shoot/produce.” – Next Level

DJ Rasta Root

I just spent the past weekend in Melbourne visiting friends and went to check out Brian McKnight and Dwele in concert. Before he landed in Australia I caught up with Dwele's DJ, Rasta Root, who I finally had the chance of meeting at the show. Head to http://www.keepup.com.au to check the interview.

Longboard Love

A couple of my girls in Melbourne are skaters, and have taken up longboarding in the past couple years. I wish I had the courage and balance to be able to ride one, but alas my big bones were not made for gliding. Check this short doco on 3 of New York's well-known female longboarders. I wish I could be as cool as you!

TORONTO!!!

After 1 impatient month of waiting, my Working Visa for Canada has been approved. On the 8th December I will be packing my life into 2 suitcases and making the move to Toronto by myself.

Everyone keeps asking me 'Why?' and I say 'Why not?!'. I'm 30, single and completely enjoying my life right now, we are here to LIVE it, so that is what I'm going to do. After numerous trips to NY over the past 2 years and making some amazing friends, the other side of the world is calling my name. Unfortunately working visa's for the U.S. are tough to come by, so Canada was my next option.

I cannot wait for this next instalment to begin and will hopefully re-ignite my passion for writing. If you're in T.Dot or know some people I can link with, feel free to hit me up.

D'Angelo Sightings

I must express my complete joy at the fact that D'Angelo has been spotted in public at Raphael Saadiq's show at Webster Hall in New York this past week. Thanks to NY concert photographer extraordinaire Mel.D.Cole for snapping the below shots.

I can only hope that public sightings like these become more common and that D'Angelo's album is near a release. I know he's been battling past demons and I am not one to judge. I still love you D and you can 'get it' any day.

Dwele found a way to Australia!!!

I never thought the day would come where I would see Dwele make it to Australia. I always figured the only time I would see him would be when I was in the U.S., and I was lucky enough to catch him play in New York, supporting Mint Condition last year.

Thanks to my friend Joe and the Frontier Touring guys, we see Dwele touring down under alongside Brian McKnight this June. Excited in my pants much!!!

Also excited to finally see my buddy DJ Rastaroot out here too, see you soon!

Where its at!

I've been slacking with blogging. Since February I've celebrated my 30th Birthday, flew to Melbourne to party with my friends, changed jobs and been totally un-inspired. So thats where my head has been at.

I had a moment of inspiration tonight and taught myself how to play 'the bridge is over' on keys. I've finally started on my visa application for the move to Canada at the end of the year, paperwork galore.

LIFE!

It is what it is, until it stops being what it is and becomes something else.

here come the drums

So I'm blessed to know some very talented people. Check out my boy Manny, who is the drummer for Chester French, Amerie & Travie McCoy. Probably one of the most hilarious people I know.

Men!

'Women cannot complain about men anymore until they start getting better taste in them.'

I came across this statement yesterday and I cant be mad at that, it is 100% true. If you are complaining about the man you are with then get the fuck out of the relationship, why put yourself through something your clearly not happy with?

On the flip side, we can only start getting better taste in men if the REAL MEN stand up. Where are all the gentlemen at? Its the simple things that matter the most. Well for me anyway...

shake ya pants

Pretty sure that much hip thrusting in unitard's should be illegal, haha

Liquid Love

I always love getting my ears on new soul artists. Chris Turner hit my soul with his single 'Liquid Love' off the upcoming EP 'LOVEchild'. The fact that he is from Oakland definitely has my interest, I love that city and love the sounds that Oakland artists bring.

http://christurner.bandcamp.com/

Hello 2011, nice to meet you!

Well its that time again, where we ponder the past and make plans for the new. 2010 was a OK year for me, 2 trips to New York were the highlights, my career was put on pause, I moved cities and am now ready to kick start 2011. I'm moving to Toronto at the end of the year, so this is my time to 'get that money'.

These first 3 days of the new year have consisted of catching up with my good friend Boogie Blind & Lord Finesse who were in town for a show, I went fishing, I got sunburnt at the markets, hangtime with Delta & Vix, & have had Miguel, Foreign Exchange & Zo! on repeat on my stereo.

Lets toast it up and see what the year has in store.

For those that read this, sending you love & light for the new year.
